Role Models Inspire Campaign

It has been suggested that Julie could make a fantastic contribution to the Office of Disability Issues’s role models campaign.

Speaking of this exciting campaign, ‘I have to thanks Independent Living in Scotland project and Inclusion Scotland for nominating me. I was at first I was overwhelmed because I see myself as ‘Julie’ who has the same aspirations as my brother and twin sister.  It is a good feeling and recognition from your peers who see me as role models for disabled people. I am passionate about equality and diversity and will endeavors to improve and assist others who want the same opportunities in life as their mainstream peers’.

Heather Fisken, Project Manager for Independent Living in Scotland, who approached Julie for her involvement and when asked why Julie was the perfect candidate said “When we were approached to make a nomination, Julie immediately sprung to mind.  Julie has really pushed back boundaries by taking up challenges and opportunities that come her way, and indeed creating opportunities for herself.  She inspires everyone who comes into contact with her.”

The aim of the campaign is to raise the aspirations of young disabled people and are key in achieving this.
